Adeiza James Onumanyi is a dynamic and resourceful researcher with twelve years of professional teaching and research experience. He is currently employed as a researcher at South Africa’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), where he is developing transactive controllers for smart microgrids. From July 2010 to February 2021, he taught at the Federal University of Technology in Minna, Nigeria. In that period, from January 2018 to December 2019, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Advanced Sensor Network (ASN) research group at the Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He researched the integration of emerging long-range communication technologies with cognitive radio at the University of Pretoria. Adeiza has published over 31 refereed journal articles, 22 conference articles, and 1 book chapter. He has participated in winning research grants both locally at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria, and nationally within Nigeria. He is actively involved in writing research proposals at the CSIR in South Africa and he has already written and secured proposals from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Nigeria. He has served on several conference organizing committees, including IEEE conferences, and has reviewed numerous articles for high impact factor journals. He is a candidate engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is a member of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA). He is also a member of the Council for Engineering Regulation in Nigeria (COREN) and a professional member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His research interests include cognitive radio spectrum sensing, smart grids, IoT, edge intelligence, transactive energy, metaheuristic optimization algorithms, wireless sensor networks, image processing, cyber- physical systems, and low powered wireless area networks.
